It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Bishara Arida. He was predeceased by his wife, Simone Arida (nee Sarkis). Lovingly survived by his son, Andrew Arida, daughter-in-law Leanna-Korns Arida, and his two grandchildren, Jude Arida and Luke Arida. Raymond is also survived by his brother Peter Arida and sister Wedad Assaf. Raymond was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1930. In July 1952, he graduated from Cairo University with a degree of Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. Raymond took great pride in his accomplishments as an engineer and his career included work in Egypt, Canada, Algeria, the UK, and Bolivia. Raymond married his wife Simone in June 1961 in Cairo and they immigrated to Montreal, Canada shortly thereafter. The following years brought a son, Andrew, countless adventures and wonderful memories. Raymond retired in Kelowna, BC in 1995 and eventually moved to Vancouver in 2009. Raymond was an avid traveller, a proud engineer, a storyteller, a lover of a good joke, but most of all, a devoted husband and father. Saudade, Dad. Visitation for Raymond will be held on Friday, February 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Springfield Funeral Home, Kelowna BC. Interment to follow in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
