October 14, 1925 - November 22, 2018
Lucas, Raymond E., (Ray) passed away on November 22, 2018 in Kelowna, aged 93. Born in Toronto, Ontario, October 14, 1925. He is predeceased by his two brothers, Russ and Eddie.
Ray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Fran, his wife of 69 years, will miss him dearly, as will his children Paul (Mary), Lynn, Glen (Jannette), grandchildren, Alison, Noah (Ellen), Annie (Todd), and Deirdre and great grandson Rayne. Ray was very close to his niece and nephew Marion Crean (Finnbar) of Boston, MA and Jimmy Lucas (Llse) of Denver, CO.
Following graduation from Danforth Tech High School, Ray served in the Navy, on a frigate during WWII. After the war, Ray attended the University of Toronto where he completed his Business Administration Degree and met Fran.
One of the first instructors at Okanagan Regional College, Ray found fulfillment with staff and students while teaching in the Business Administration Department. He possessed a sense of humour, curiosity and integrity. Friends and family remember many good times and activities, including tennis, swimming, hiking and canoeing. After retirement from the college, Ray enjoyed travel, playing bridge and poker, and the occasional game of pool, but he enjoyed companionship the most!
