Richard Earl Tanner

Richard Earl Tanner

Sep 2, 1946 – Nov 11, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Earl Tanner of Hinton, AB. Richard passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the age of 71 years.

Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Trudy, his children Rod (Michelle) Tanner, Ryan (Lisa) Tanner, Christine Bergstrom, Staci Bergstrom, grand-children Devon (Morgan Sparrow), Riley, Ashlyn (Alex Morrison), and Logan Tanner, Jacob Winsor, Damon, Heather and Todd Marlow. Also, brother Roger and his children Sarah, Rachel and Ben.

Richard was born in Stratford, ON. Sept. 2, 1946 and lived there many years. He moved to BC and then to AB to be close to his boys and their families. In 2006, he met Trudy and they married Sept 29, 2007. Most of his life was spent farming and doing construction work.

His greatest joys were his family, church, dancing and helping others. He could fix and repair anything. The excitement he had in completing the restoration of the 1888 hot air pumping engine and the 1963 Ford select-o-speed tractor was amazing.

The celebration of Richard’s life will take place Sat. Dec 2, 2017, 2 pm at Hinton United Church, Hinton, AB. with Pastor Doug Heine officiating.

Thank you to all our family, friends, church families, and amazing nursing staff at Hinton General Hospital.

As an expression of sympathy, if friends so desire, and in loving memory of Richard, memorial contributions may be made to the Hinton United Church (for Richard’s LED sign project), 101 Maskuta Dr., Hinton, AB T7V1E7 or to a charity of your choice.

Richard fought the good fight, he finished the race. He left with no regrets because he lived for Christ. Death was rest for his weary body. It was freedom from the pain and hardship of this world. It was coming home.
