RONALD Ashton Wells

passed away peacefully on Wed Oct 30, 2009 at the age of 94. Ron was the youngest & last remaining child of his

pioneering parents S.K (Shorty) Wells of Aurora, Ontario and Margaret Morris of Belfast, Ireland. Ron was born on Dec 06, 1915 at his parent's ranch near Marsden, Sask. Ron & his 1st wife Christina (deceased) raised their

family of two sons, Jim and Roy and five daughters Dorothy (deceased), Gail, Darlene, Marilyn and Carol on the Marsden ranch. Ron is survived by and will be greatly missed by sons, daughters, nieces, his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sapper Ron was with the 14th battalion Saskatchewan engineers. He served as a test subject at the experimental station, Suffield, Alberta.

He was overseas in WWII serving in England, France and Belgium. He served with the Canadian forces

liberating Holland and in Germany. Returning to Marsden Sask, he ranched, farmed and drove school bus for many years. He served on the town council, the school board and is a past president of the Marsden Legion. Ron was a member of the Canadian Legion for 64 years including 28 years with Kelowna Branch 26. He was a long time member of the Water Street Senior Citizens Center where he loved to dance and play cards. He enjoyed curling, baseball, horseshoes and fishing. His big smile and Irish eyes will be lovingly missed by his wife Peg March-Wells. Grandpa Ron will be remembered with smiles by Peg's daughters Wylli and Deb, granddaughter Amanda and great-grandson Matt. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Clark for his kindness and care, the compassionate staff at Cottonwoods Care Center and the many friends who provided support to Ron and Peg over the past few months.
