RITCHEY – Ronald Leon July 15, 1918 September 15, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron at the age of 91. He will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life of 63 years, Editha “Betty,” his son, Randy and his daughter Sherry (Dennis) Husch.  Also left to mourn his passing are his grandchildren, Naeomi Dawson, Ryan (Marika), Rory (Jamie) and Wyatt Husch, Jeffrey Braun

(Ritchey), great grandchildren Jacob, Jarryn and Hunter Dawson, Mackenzie, Weston and Brooklyn Husch, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  Predeceased by his father Amos, mother Mabel, sisters Eva Hinter, Lillian

Reiswig, brothers Cecil, Elwyn, Milo, Milton and Amos Jr.  Ron was born in Youngstown, AB, and came to Kelowna with his parents and family in 1920 where he resided until he joined the Canadian Army.  He was a WWII Vet, having served overseas for three years in the Royal Canadian

Electrical & Mechanical Engineers working as a heavy duty mechanic specializing on tanks. When the war ended, Ron spent six months with the Canadian Army Shows (Comedy Convoy) entertaining the remaining troops that were waiting to return home.  Ron returned to Canada in 1946 and married his redheaded sweetheart.  He had several occupations over the course of his life, the longest being with the City of Kelowna for 18 years, as a foreman and head carpenter.  He retired from the city in 1978 and

devoted his time to Ritchcraft Framing which he operated along with Betty.  Ron and Betty did a fair amount of traveling in their retirement years, but always returned home to Kelowna to their family.  Ron will always be remembered as a talented musician with a beautiful voice.  He will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.  Ron was so very proud of his family and they of him.  He will be sadly missed, but always remembered, as no one can ever take his place.  A memorial service

will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 1:00 pm at

Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road.  Should family and friend so desire, donations may be made to the
