made his final journey from this world with his family by his side on Friday, June 6th, 2008. Roy was a thoughtful, generous gentleman who loved being active, chatting up a storm and visiting with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty seven years, Harriet Engberg (Jackson). Harriet was Dad's lifeline and constant caregiver who always had coffee and cookies for Roy at 10 and 3 pm! Roy will be cherished forever by his three daughters Margaret & Ken Weaver, Bev & Murray McCurdy (Kamloops) and Lynn & Len Vigar (Kelowna), and his six grandchildren Brenda Weaver (Kevin), Fort St. John; Janine McCurdy, Chilliwack; Brent and Rosanna Weaver; Maureen McCurdy, Kamloops; Neal Vigar (Laura) and Cathy Vigar (Jay), Vancouver. Roy was delighted with the arrival of his great grandson Vann Weaver. Vann's youthful energy and loving hugs brightened G.G's last years. Roy will also be remembered by his sister-in-law Jean (Jack) Bruno along with nieces and nephews. Roy was born in Vancouver on October 28, 1918. He married his BC Electric sweetheart in June 1941. Roy proudly served in the Army from 1942 until 1945 in Kingston, Ontario and he received his heavy duty mechanics training. After the war, Roy and Harriet and the girls resided in New Westminster. Roy moved his family to Prince George in 1957. Roy and his partners opened a successful Mack Truck Dealership. Dad loved Macks and he had many loyal customers that sealed a deal with a handshake. Although business was important most weekends in the 60's were spent with company at "the lake". Mum was the hostess and dad the entertainer! In 1974, he retired and moved to Kelowna. Many special times were had with family camping, house boating and barbecuing. Dad was most comfortable behind the wheel or washing vehicles! Dad and mum enjoyed RVing from Alaska to Florida and made many lasting friendships during winters in California. In 2000, Roy and Harriet moved to Kamloops and have spent the last eight years in Ponderosa Place. Harriet and family wish to thank Dr. John Reid, Dr. David Rittenburg and The High Country Health Care staff for their care; also heartfelt thanks to the phenomenal Ponderosa lodge Caregivers for their compassion. A family celebration of Roy's life will be held at a later date in Kelowna, BC.
