SHELDON BLOOMER
Passed away on October 13, 2014. He will be sadly missed by friends and
family. Born: Earl Sheldon Bloomer on November 24, 1928 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba Sheldon was raised on a farm in Headingly, Manitoba with siblings: Edward (Ted) deceased -
survived by wife Lorraine
Naomi - husband Bill (deceased) Lloyd
- wife Bev Headingly, and Charleswood, Manitoba were home to Sheldon for the first 39 years of his life. Sheldon was involved in many diverse business
ventures. He owned hotels and pubs, heavy equipment
franchises and oilfield companies. He was a real estate
developer and even promoted rock concerts in the 1960s. Sheldon was the consummate entrepreneur. Hockey was a great part of Sheldon's life. Sheldon played in the New York Rangers organization for 7 years. This included playing for the legendary Eddie Shore of which he had many stories to tell. Sheldon would often imitate Eddie barking at him on the ice....."Can you dance Mr. Bloomer, can you dance." In 2003 Sheldon was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame as a proud member of the Winnipeg Maroons Hockey Club which represented Canada at many international
competitions and became the Canadian National Team. Sheldon played on the "Old Timer" hockey teams of
Winnipeg, Edmonton, Kelowna and Vernon, collectively for over 40 years. Sheldon was survived by long-time friend Joyce Schaefer as well as his four children: Shelley Gill - Stan Wade Bloomer - Deb Shawna Zadeiks - Ed Jacquie Laguardia 11 grand-children and 3 great grand-children.
