PURNELL, VAL

Passed away peacefully on April 17, 2014 at Village by Mill Creek. Val was born in Cardston, Alberta in 1922 and he grew up in the Woolford area. He enlisted in the navy at the beginning of WWII. Val married Ethel Sommerfeldt in 1947.  They spent 14 years farming in Whiskey Gap then moved to Kelowna in 1963. Val was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by his wife Ethel; daughters, Myrna (Maurice) and Della (Mike); sons Delmar (Coleen), Gary (Sandy) and Kevin (Pam); 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. A service will be held on Saturday April 26th at 1:30pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 696 Glenmore Road Kelowna.
