SAMOL, VERA
1919 ~ 2014
We are saddened by the loss of this dynamic, thrifty, capable lady who passed away peacefully April 24, 2014 in Kelowna Hospice at the age of 94 years. Vera was mother to son Ron (Millie) and daughters Gloria (Lars) and Vicki (Gerry), grandmother to Shawn, Kira and Ryan, Greg (Carolyn), Hilary
(Piero), Evan (Annie), Sarah (Matt) and great grandmother (GG)to Christian, Sienna, Lauren, Fraser, Tova, Alessia, Abigail, Clare and Emma. She would tell anyone who would listen, about how proud she was of her family. Vera was predeceased in 1997 by her loving husband, Victor. She was born in Biggar,
Saskatchewan having spent the rest of her years in Armstong, Calgary, Enderby, Salmon Arm, Winnipeg and finally the last 35 years in Kelowna. Vera never let go of the work ethic of a farm-raised girl through the depression. She worked hard at everything she did, be it paid work or volunteer. She was very careful with resources, and never wasted a morsel of food, water or electricity.
Her last 8 years have been full of pleasure, bridge, friendships old and new, easy family visits and good food at Missionwood Residence. We expect she will find herself in a Heaven complete with a tidy, well-organized home, a pot of borscht ready on the stove, and a trio of good friends to join in bridge. Her TV will be tuned to curling, baseball and hockey. Her garden will be ripe with tomatoes,
cucumbers, carrots and beans, and a flower garden
of well-managed roses. We miss her already.
Memorial service will be held at Valleyview Funeral Home, 165 Valleyview Rd. Kelowna. 11:00 am Friday, May 2, 2014
In lieu of Flowers, please make donations to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
