KOLISNYK, VICTORIA
It is with great sadness
that the family announces the passing of Victoria
(nee Semeniuk) Kolisnyk on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Central
Okanagan Hospice House at the age of 88.
Victoria was born on
August 3, 1924 in Pine
River, Manitoba to
Michael and Anastasia Semeniuk.
Victoria is survived by
her daughter Stella
Rowbotham, sons Victor (Lauretta) and Edward (Roseanne), 8 grandchildren and
12 great-grandchildren, sister Jean Pura, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by
her husband Stephen Kolisnyk, her parents Michael and Anastasia Semeniuk; sister Caroline Caruk; brothers Rudolf and Carl Semeniuk; and son-in-law Allan Rowbotham.
Family was most important to Victoria, and she especially enjoyed a family gathering and the preparation of her most favourite day of the year, Christmas Eve, where the tradition of a Ukrainian Christmas Eve dinner, prepared by Mom
(affectionately known as Baba by her grandchildren), was enjoyed by us all. Mom also loved hairdressing and started her career as a hairdresser in the early 50's. Victoria and Steve would eventually retire in Dauphin, Manitoba.
In 1984 they moved to Westbank, BC to be closer to
family, and in 2005 to Kelowna.
Prayers will be offered on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road,
Kelowna, B.C. Funeral of Divine Liturgy will be held on
Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the Ukrainian
Catholic Church at 1091 Coronation Ave., Kelowna, B.C. with Father Andriy Werbowy officiating. Interment at the
Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday July 29.
