It is with heartfelt shock and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William Malcolm (Bill) Thomas on April 21, 2022, at his home in Summerland, B.C.
Bill was born July 30, 1941, in Penticton, B.C. to Malcolm and Catherine Thomas and spent his pre-school years on the Kettle Valley Railway at Myra, Chute Lake, and McCulloch.
During his school years, Bill was involved in all levels of hockey, He spent several years in the Royal Canadian Navy and while enlisted was chosen to play hockey for the Navy while on manoeuvers in Japan.
Always an accomplished skier and after suffering an industrial accident Bill became involved in the Disabled Ski Association of Canada, competing locally as well as in the U.S. and eastern Canada, winning many awards in his category.
He met Louise in Penticton and they were married in 1975 and had two children, Christine, born in 1976, and Bryce in 1979. Bill was a member of the Penticton Yacht Club for several years and took part in and won many sailing races. He worked for Casabello Wines from its inception as well as performing maintenance on several other wineries in the Okanagan. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his shop fixing and rebuilding Model A's and flying model helicopters with the local club.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Catherine Thomas, brother-in-law, Alex Barichello Survived by partner Bobbi, daughter Christine (Paul), son Bryce, Bobbi's sons Todd (Michelle) and Troy (Kim), Mother of his children Louise (Gary), Sister Gwyneth (Gerry), Grandchildren Khala, Nash, Reid, Jacob, Chase, and Hannah, as well as many cousins in Canada and Wales.
There will be no service by request. If desired, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
