WILLY GALKA
1935 - 2013
With sadness I announce the
passing of Willy Galka on April
23, 2013 at age 77. He leaves
his loving wife Renate to whom
he was married 48 years.
Also surviving are his Brothers Manfred, Edmonton, Alfred and Ehrenfried both of Berlin Germany, and a Sister Hiltraut in Australia.
Willy was born in Berlin Germany on June 18, 1935 and immigrated to Canada in 1960 where he met Renate. Willy worked for the Dana Canada Corporation in Ontario for 32 years.
Upon retirement 12 years ago Willy and Renate moved
to West Kelowna. He then became very active with the West Kelowna Community Policing Society as a Volunteer. He was a very dedicated Volunteer and enjoyed the
people he worked with.
Willy was a devoted and loving husband to Renate and
was the type of person who was always there for you if you needed help. He was kind, unselfish and always put the needs of other people ahead of himself.
The last few years were difficult for Willy and Renate and
we thank the Cancer Clinic, Kelowna General Hospital
and the Hospice House as well as all of the Staff in these Organizations.
Renate will host a Celebration of Willy's Life in June at her home.
Funeral arrangements by First Memorial Funeral Home,
Kelowna and will be followed by Cremation.
Renate would like to offer a Special Thank You to all of
her friends and neighbors who were there for support. "Thank you, I will never forget."
